For the woman who is tired of fighting her own body

Hello Reader,

I want to talk about something that doesn't get discussed honestly enough.

Eating well and staying at a healthy weight after 60.

Not dieting. Not starting over on Monday. Just the real, everyday business of feeding yourself well and feeling good in your body at this stage of life.

I published this post a few days ago and I have to say, it's one of the most personal things I've put on the blog in a while.

Because this topic has a long and complicated history for most of us, myself included. Decades of dieting advice that didn't quite fit. A body that seemed to change the rules without asking permission. The quiet exhaustion of trying to do everything right and still feeling like something wasn't working.

What I've come to believe, after years of paying attention to my own body at 71, is that the answer is simpler than the diet industry would like us to think.

It starts with understanding what actually changes in our bodies after 60, and then building a way of eating and moving that works with those changes rather than against them. No restriction. No guilt. No imaginary approved foods list.

I think you'll find something useful in it. Maybe more than one something.

And on a lighter note, I also recently published a post about transitional dressing - specifically that awkward stretch when the seasons are changing and nothing in your closet feels quite right.

We're past spring now and moving into early summer, but honestly the principles apply any time the weather shifts and your wardrobe hasn't caught up yet.

If you've ever stood in front of a full closet feeling like you have nothing to wear, this one is worth a read.

Many of you are aware that in addition to InspireMyStyle.com, I also publish books in a variety of niches and under several pen names.

My latest venture is into the world of cozy mysteries - interesting & intriguing who-done-it stories without the profanity, sex, or violence that pervades so many books.

If you're into the world of all things cozy, check out The Lexie Vanie Cozy Mystery series. The first three books are published with two more in the works.

They are fun to write and hopefully habit-forming to read!

That's all for this week, my friend. Stay safe, be well, pray for peace.

Hello Reader, I used to think looking put-together meant more β€” more pieces, more planning, more time I didn't actually have. Turns out it's the opposite. This week I'm sharing my actual go-to formula: the anchor piece I build every outfit around, my simple rule for color, why fit beats trend every time, and the one small finishing touch that pulls it all together without adding more effort to your morning. Spoiler: it's not about having more. It's about having the right few things, and...

Hello Reader, I noticed something on a Wednesday morning that I haven't been able to stop thinking about since. I was out on the lanai, coffee in hand, and instead of already running through my list for the day, I just sat there. Watched the birds. Let ten minutes pass without once checking the clock. Old me would have called that wasted time. But it didn't feel wasted. It felt like relief. That small moment turned into this week's post, which is really about something I think a lot of us are...

Hello Reader, I want to tell you about something small I've been doing before bed that's made a bigger difference than I expected. For a long time, my evenings didn't slow down just because my days got quieter. If anything, I filled that open space with more- more projects, more ideas, more "just one more thing" before I finally turned off the lights. Sound familiar? Whether your evenings are full of a spouse's routine, grown kids who still find reasons to call after dinner, or a project you...
